🧭 Preparation Roadmap (Phases)

Month 1 - 2

Study Child Development & Pedagogy (CDP) theories by Piaget, Kohlberg, Vygotsky, and Maslow.
Understand concepts of inclusive education, child-centered teaching, and learning theories.
Familiarize yourself with the National Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF).

Month 2 - 3

Read NCERT Class I-V (for Paper 1) or Class VI-VIII (for Paper 2) books.
Study language pedagogy, environmental science (EVS), and mathematics teaching methods.
Solve previous years questions to understand how situational pedagogy questions are framed.

Month 3 - 4

Solve at least 10 previous year papers under standard test conditions.
Avoid negative marking anxiety (there is no negative marking in CTET). Attempt all 150 questions.
Revise key theories and terms.

High-Yield Topics: Stages of Development, Theories of Intelligence, Piaget, Vygotsky, Inclusive Education

Focus on understanding child-centric psychology. Questions test how a teacher should handle classroom scenarios.

High-Yield Topics: Unseen Passages, Grammar Basics, Language Acquisition Pedagogy

Prepare grammar concepts. For Pedagogy, study methods of teaching grammar, skills of language, and diagnostic testing.

High-Yield Topics: Content (NCERT Syllabus) + Subject-specific Pedagogy

Spend half your time on the actual content and half on how to teach that content (pedagogy).

• Always think from a child-friendly, constructive, and progressive viewpoint when answering pedagogy questions.
• Since there is no negative marking, never leave a question blank. Use elimination techniques for tough questions.
• Focus heavily on Child Development & Pedagogy, as its principles apply to the other subject pedagogy sections too.
